In 1841, James and Margaret (both 30), were with William (9), James (7), Jane (5), Joseph (2) and John (5 months) at Commission Street, SW Bolton (see map).
In 1851, James and wife Margaret (42 & 40) were in Derby Street, East Bolton with William (19), James (16), Joseph (12), John (10) and Mary (7).
Margaret, wife of James Mather died 4 February 1860, aged 53 years (headstone). A month later, James married Mary Hornby. (The only marriage to a Mary 1853-61 is Mary Hornby in 1861).

In 1871, William and Ann (39 & 35) were with Mary (11) and James (7) at 88 Derby Street. Thomas B was missing.

14 Nov 1860, Jacobum (i.e. James) Mather of Derby Street married Elizabeth Woods of Cross St at St Peter & St Paul Roman Catholic Church, Bolton. Josepho Mather and Maria (i.e. Joseph and Mary) Mather of Cross Street were witness.
This family moved around Lancashire. Bolton births show only five births. However, the 1881 census shows that James, a House Painter from Wigan, and Elicabeth (46 & 40) had 9 children with births at Warrington, Manchester and Hindley as well as Bolton.
In 1891, James and Elizabeth (57 & 50) were at Warrington with 6 of their children.
Headstone: James Mather died Sep 8 1895, aged 61 years. Also of Elizebeth his wife who died Dec 17th 1897, aged 57 years.

In 1841, Jane Mather, 74, Widow was living at Gas Street, West Bolton. With her was her (assumed) grandson Robert Mather (16), a cotton carder.
Jane's death was registered in Western Bolton in 1877. She was buried 21 July at St. Mary's, Deane.

15 Sep 1844 Robert Mather married Agnes Rankin (Bolton, St. Peter & St. Paul RC Church). This may be him - TBC. Lawrence Mather also married Jane Ward there the same day. They may be brothers as in 1846, Lawrence had a daughter named Agnes Mather (who died 1847).
