Thomas was born at Radcliffe in 1793, the son of James Mather and Mary Melling.
2 Sep 1821 Thomas a Bread Baker, son of James married Lydia Greenhalgh at St Mary's, Radcliffe. Lydia died in 1824, aged 34.
21 May 1826, Thomas Mather of Radcliffe married Mary Taylor of Prestwich at Prestwich by license.
In 1836 and 1841, Thomas a shopkeeper was at Spring Lane, Radcliffe. In 1841 Thomas and Mary (both 45) had Mary (15), Alice (12), Martha (10), and Hannah (4). There was also Marther Spencer (15) with them.
26 Nov 1846, Thomas Mather, widower and Shopkeeper of Radcliffe, son of James a Shopkeeper of Spring Lane married Mrs Helen Barlow of the Bull's Head, a widow at the Radcliffe Parish Church
In 1851, Thomas Mather (57) was a Shopkeeper (Grocer) at Spring Lane, Radcliffe with his daughters Martha (19) and Hannah (14). He was married but Helen wasnt with him.
In 1861, Thomas Mather (67) was a grocer at Spring Lane, Radcliffe with his daughter Martha (24) keeping house.
In 1871, Thomas Mather (77) was a grocer at 55+57 Spring Lane, Radcliffe with his daughter Martha (39) housekeeper.
