Thomas was born on July 18th, 1793 in Radcliffe and his baptism took place on August 18th, 1793 at St. Mary (Mirfield).1 2  Thomas' father was James Mather and his mother was Mary Melling.  His paternal grandparents were James Mather and Mary Pendlebury. He had three brothers and a sister, named James, Peter, Miles and Mary.  He was the oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 79 on March 15th, 1873 in Radcliffe.  He was buried on March 19th, 1873 at St. Mary (Radcliffe).3 4

‌Thomas and Lydia were married in a religious ceremony on September 2nd, 1821 in Radcliffe by minister Thomas Parkinson and witnessed by James Mather; William Mather & Ann Greenhalgh.8  They had a son and a daughter, named James and Mary.  There are no more children.

‌Thomas and Mary were married in a religious ceremony on May 21st, 1826 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Prestwich).8   They had two sons and six daughters, named Thomas, James, Alice, Sarah, Eliza, Martha, Hannah and Elizabeth.

‌Thomas and Helen were married in a religious ceremony on November 26th, 1846 at St. Mary (Radcliffe) by Robert Fletcher and witnessed by John Lancashire & Jonathan Pollitt.14  There are no children.
