Ellis Mather

Ellis was born in 1857 in Swinton.¹

Ellis' father was John Mather and his mother was Martha Adcroft. His paternal grandparents were Ellis Mather and Elizabeth Cook. He had three sisters named Mary, Elizabeth and Alice. He was the second youngest of the four children. He died at the age of 74 on March 9th, 1931 in Worsley.²

‌Ellis and Matilda were married in a civil ceremony in October 1875 in Barton upon Irwell.⁴ They had three sons and a daughter, named John, Clifford, Moses and Lily. There are no more children. Moses and Lily were twins.
