Sally was born in November 1761 in Radcliffe and her baptism took place on November 15th, 1761 at St. Mary (Radcliffe).1  Sally's father was Robert Madther and her mother was Betty (Elizabeth) Ripson. She had six brothers and a sister, named Richard, Francis, Robert, John, Samuel, James and Rachel.  She was the second oldest of the eight children.
