James Mather

James was born in March 1838 in Breightmet.¹

James' father was Jeremiah (Jeremy) Mather and his mother was Alice Lord. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Mather and Betty Lord. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Samuel, Jeremiah, John, Robert, Peter, James, Betty and Mary. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 10 in March 1848 in Tonge-with-Haulgh. His burial was on March 16th, 1848 at St. Thomas (Radcliffe).²²

- James was 3 in 1841, living at East Breightmet Hills, Breightmet.
  
  In 1851, James was missing from the family. James died aged 10. (The James aged 13 with his Grandmother Betty in 1851 is another). A "replacement" James was born in 1852.
  
  NOTE: There is slight doubt and James and his brother Jeremiah were buried at different cemeteries in Radcliffe.
