Jeremiah Mather

Jeremiah was born in 1724 in Breightmet.

Birth Notes
- There is no Lancashire baptism available for Jeremiiah. He lived in Breightmet and was buried at Ainsworth, aged 76 when died in 1798

Jeremiah's father was Peter Mather and his mother was Elizabeth (Betty) Cranwhaw. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Margaret Greenhalgh. He had three brothers and four sisters, named John, Abraham, Peter, Margaret, Alice, Ann and Katherin. He died at the age of 74 on May 4th, 1798 in Breightmet. His burial was on May 6th, 1798 at Cockey Moor Discenting Chapel.¹

- Jeremy (1722-1798) and Hannah (1731-1806) are buried at Cockey Moor, AInsworth. Also buried there are their sons Jacob (1759-1821) and Jeremiah (1768-1837). Also buried is Margaret Mather (1701-1785) which must be his mother!

      in 1777, Abraham and Hannah had their son Thomas baptised at Cockey Moor, living at Heigth (probably Height Farn), Harwood. This was the only Mather family to do so, although Jemeriah and Hannah and family are buried there.
