Betty's father was Jeremiah (Jeremy) Mather and her mother was Alice Lord. Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Mather and Betty Lord. She had seven brothers and a sister, named Samuel, James, Jeremiah, John, Robert, Peter, James and Mary. She was the oldest of the nine children. She died at 10 months old in September 1832 in Radcliffe. Her burial was on February 3rd, 1832 at St. Thomas (Radcliffe).³
