North was born on January 3rd, 1800 in Radcliffe and his baptism took place on February 16th, 1800 at St. Mary (Radcliffe).1  North's father was Martin Madther and his mother was Sarah Kirkman.  His paternal grandparents were Richard Madther and Betty Siddal. He had a brother and a sister, named Jessey and Betty.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 54 in November 1854 in Oldham.  He was buried on November 21st, 1854 in Oldham.2
