In 1841, James a bleacher and Martha (both 40) were at Sandiford Trining, Radcliffe had James (15), Thomas (14), William (10), Edward (6), Charles (4) and Joseph (14 months), plus three female servants.

By 1861 James had died, and Martha (60) was head of the big Crow Oaks house, still with sons James (35) and Joseph (20)
