Martha Whitaker

Martha was born in 1801 in Bolton.¹

  Married by licence, with James Mather from Radclidde parish, and Martha from Bolton

She died at the age of 69 on November 29th, 1870 in Whitefield. Her burial was on December 2nd, 1870 at St. Mary (Radcliffe).²³

  In 1841, James a bleacher and Martha (both 40) were at Sandiford Trining, Radcliffe had James (15), Thomas (14), William (10), Edward (6), Charles (4) and Joseph (14 months), plus three female servants.
  
  James, Martha and sons James and Joseph lived at Crow Oaks, Pilkington.
  
  By 1861 James had died, and Martha (60) was head of the big Crow Oaks house, still with sons James (35) and Joseph (20)
