Thomas was born in February 1764 in Radcliffe and his baptism took place on February 19th, 1764 at St. Mary (Radcliffe).1 2  Thomas' father was James Mather and his mother was Mary Pendlebury. He had three brothers and six sisters, named Miles, John, James, Ann, Betty, Martha, Alice, Jenny and Sally.  He was the third youngest of the ten children.  He died as an infant at 11 months old in January 1765 in Radcliffe.  He was buried on January 11th, 1765 at St. Mary (Radcliffe).1 1
