Alice's father was James Mather and her mother was Mary Pendlebury. She had four brothers and five sisters, named Miles, John, Thomas, James, Ann, Betty, Martha, Jenny and Sally. She was the fifth oldest of the ten children. She died at the age of 27 on March 26th, 1785 in Radcliffe. Her burial was in March 1786 at St. Mary (Radcliffe).²
