Elizabeth was born in March 1725 in Outwood and her baptism took place on March 20th, 1725 at St. Saviour (Ringley).1  Elizabeth's father was James Mather and her mother was Susannah Mather. She had three brothers and two sisters, named James, William, William, Alice and Grace.  She was the third youngest of the six children.
