Elizabeth's father was Thomas Mather and her mother was Mary Taylor.  Her paternal grandparents were James Mather and Mary Melling. She had two brothers and five sisters, named Thomas, James, Alice, Sarah, Eliza, Martha and Hannah.  She was the second youngest of the eight children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named James and Mary.  She died at 1 months old on April 26th, 1838 in Radcliffe.  She was buried on April 26th, 1838 at St. Mary (Radcliffe).^3 4
