John Richard Eckersley 
John was born in March 1877 in Bury.1 John's father was William Eckersley and his mother was Elizabeth Mather. His maternal grandparents were William Mather and Mary Davenport. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, William, Emma, Harriet and Elizabeth. He was the third youngest of the six children.
