Francis' father was William Henry Mather and her mother was Mary Ann Walker.  Her paternal grandparents were James Mather and Martha Whitaker. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Edwin, Walter, Gertrude and Edith.  She was the oldest of the five children.  She died at the age of 6 in July 1862 in Pilkington.  She was buried on July 21st, 1862 in Stand.
