Adam was born in 1609 in Tyldesley and his baptism took place on March 26th, 1609 in Leigh.1  Adam's father was Hugh Mather and his mother was <unknown>. He had four brothers and two sisters, named John, James, Hugh, Thomas, Richard and Anne.  He was the youngest of the seven children.  He died about 1611 in Tyldesley.
