Samuel Mather

Samuel was born on May 31st, 1792 in Radcliffe and his baptism took place on July 5th, 1792 at St. Mary (Radcliffe).¹

Samuel's father was Richard Madther and his mother was Betty Siddal. His paternal grandparents were Robert Madther and Betty (Elizabeth) Ripson. He had six brothers and a sister, named Martin, North, Jesse, Haide, Hardy, Hardy and Alice. He was the seventh oldest of the eight children.

General Notes
- Only Samuel baptised at Radcliffe, son of Richard and Mary. This baptism seems to be an error, and "Mary" should be Betty. There are no Richard and Mary marriages (except Mary Rigby in 1785 which is another family). There is also a gap in the births between the two Hardys, and Richard is a weaver from Radcliffe.
