Ruth was born in December 1869 in Tonge-with-Haulgh.¹

Birth Notes

Ruth's father was Samuel Mather and her mother was Sarah Hulton (nee Lee). Her paternal grandparents were Jeremiah (Jeremy) Mather and Alice Lord. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Samuel, William, Alice and Mary. She was the second oldest of the five children. She died at the age of 2 in 1871 in Tonge-with-Haulgh.¹
