James Mather

James was born in 1834 in Radcliffe.¹

James' father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Elizabeth (Betsy) Lord (Pendlebury). His paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Betty Mather. He had an adopted sister named Mary. He had three half-brothers named Thomas, Charles and Luke.

- In 1841, James was 8 at Scar Top, Radcliff. He was listed at the end, after all the family members and lodgers, as he was a son of Thomas and Betty, and the othrs are from Betty's previous marriage.

  13 Jan 1868, James Mather (29) a Coaler of Radcliffe, son of Thomas Mather a Barber married Betty Brooks (27) of Radcliffe, daughter of Reter Brooks a Gardener.
