William and Jane lived in Droylsden, Manchester. The childrens briths all show him there as a weaver William had a brother Samuel (b.1788) and possibly a brother Ralph (1774-1838), all lived in Droylsden.

In 1841, Jane had the children and William was missing.
Dec 1849, wife Jane Matheer of Little Moss died, aged 60.
In 1851, William (56) was with Abraham (31), Sarah (22), Elizabeth (19) and Thomas (17) at Little Moss, Ashton-under-Lyne.
In 1861, William Mather (67) was with his daughter Ann Jacques (38) at Audenshaw.
