Mather 49 49 John and Ellen are my 2x Great Grandparents.  I.e. John is my great great grandfather.  John was a baptist, and probably attended Moor Street Chapel, although he later married Elizabeth Kay at Dukes Alley Chapel.

9 Oct 1837, John, a spinner, and Ellen were living in Halliwell when they married at St Mary's, Deane.

After he married Ellen, he stayed at their family home at Crook Street (1838 when Benjamin born and 1843 when wife Ellen died), although his family house was at Blackburn Street.

In 1841, John (25) was living with Ellen (20) and son Joseph (1) at Blackburn Street, Little Bolton (not with parents), working as a Cotton Spinner.

20 Sep 1843, John was living at Coopers Square, Little Bolton (on Wedding certificate).  The Bolton Cronical  reported John Mather of Little Bolton marrying Miss Elizabeth Kay of Halliwell.

Between 1844 and 1854, John and Elizbeth had 6 more children, all registered at Little Bolton. Elizabeth Mather registered in 1841 is another family (Joshua Mather and Elizabeth Kay) also in Little Bolton.

In 1851, John was living at 58 Chorley St., Bolton (a labourer at the Iron Works, age 35) with new wife Elizabeth (32) and son Joseph (11), Hannah (6), Samuel (4), Margaret (2) and Sarah A (8mo)

Samuel Mather confirmed as father on marriage certificate.  Making a fair assumption that Isaac Mather (the only other Mather family living in Little Bolton in 1851) is a brother.  Isaacs father is also known to be Samuel.

In 1856, John was a witness to younger brother George's marriage to Mary Marsh. Both could sign their names.

In 1861, John and Elizabeth (45 and 43) are at 114 Chorley Street with their children Joseph (21), Hannah (16), Samuel (14), Margaret (12), Sarah (10), John (8) and Ruth (6).

In 1864, John of 114 Chorley Street died.

11 Nov 1838, Mary daughter of John Mather, weaver was living in Derby Street at the time of her marriage to George Yates.  Therfore, her father is the John Mather (and mother Alice Mort) living in Derby Street in 1841.
1793 - >1841 Jane Mather 48 48 From the 1841 census it appears that William and Jane are husband and wife.  However, there is no marriage for such.  Instead, there are probably borther and sister, of parents Richard and Mary Mather.  1755 - 1847 Richard Mather 92 92 There was a Richard Mather (79), born Bolton alive in 1841, living with Thomas and James Walsh (possibly grandchildren).  This may be the same Richard who died in 1847, aged 92.. 1762 - 1826 Mary Rigby 64 64 1792 - 1792 William Mather 9m 9m 1799 - 1874 Mary McQuire 75 75 Mary was born 1798 in Darcy Lever (1851 census).  The birth of her daughter Margaret Lee in 1840 reveals her maiden name as MACGUIRE.  It is therefore likely, Mary MACGUIRE (or McQuire) married John Mather 1817 and was widowed.  Her baptism record confirms she was born in Darcy Lever. 1825 - 1886 Lelitia (Loah) Crankshaw 61 61 Lelitia's farher was David Crankshaw, a Mechanic (1841), later a Mill Wright and mother Mary from Ireland. In 1881 he is an out of work labourer in 6 and 8 Blackhorse St, Bolton (age 26, born in Wigan)
1851 - 1852 Mary Ann Jane Crewe Mather 8m 8m 1862 - 1863 Mary Ann Jane Mather 1 1 1857 - 1859 John Ansley Mather 1 1 John H Mather only lived 13 months.

John H was baptised on the same day and church as Ellen, the daughter of George (a Moulder of GB) and Esther Mather.  Where George and John Mather brothers?
1721 - 1781 Mary Yates 59 59 1761 - 1828 Samuel Mather 67 67 Samuel liked his Marys.  He married Mary Hodgkindon in 1785, Mary Haslam in 1787 (both at Deane), and then Mary Thorp in 1794. 1763 - 1794 Mary Haslam 30 30 Mother Catherine or Alice?

According to Mary's daughter (also Mary) baptism, Mary was the daughter of "John and Catharine Haslam of Deane".  However, the baptism names Mary's mother Alice.
1765 - 1786 Mary (Martha) Hodkinson 21 21 Mary Hogkinson married Samuel at Deane.  She was buried as Martha Mather, wife of Samuel.  However, there are no Lancashire marriages between a Samuel Mather and Martha.

John Hodgskinson (possibly Mary's father) was witness to Samuel's second marriage to Mary Haslam.
~1705 - 1750 Mary Hayes 45 45 1788 Mary Mather Mary was named daughter of James Mather of this parish of Deane and Mary his wife, daughter of John and Catherine Haslam. 1792 - 1871 Elizabeth Mather 79 79 Elizabeth married John Wright from Marshside, North Meols, a Dyer.

Elizabeth died in the Workhouse, aged 79 yrs.
1776 - 1850 John Wright 74 74 It was John who wrote the memorial inscription for Samuel Mather. John had been married once before he married Elizabeth.

If daughter Sarah was with her uncle William and Betty in 1851, then Sarah must be the daughter of John Mather who married a Betty, possibly this John and Betty Edge.  John & Betty Sutcliff didnt have a son Wiliam.

James was baptised 27 Oct 1811 at St Mary's Deane.  There is no matching adult death for James, unless he was born earlier. James may have been born about 1810 before his parents married.

He cant be the James illegitamate son of Ann Mather of Turton, born 16 Apr 1811 (the day after they married) and baptised 25 May 1811 as the death age doesn't match.

In 1841, Jane Banks (60), was head (listed first), assumed to be Margaret's mother, living at Back Barry Row, Turton.  James and Margaret Mather were both 30.  Also present were Elizabeth Horrox (i.e. Horrocks), aged 35 with Banks Horrox (9) and Edwin Horrox (1).  Holt Mather lived here in 1851.

In 1871, James (56, Wid), was a Fustian Dyer with son Richard (26), John (22) and Mary (16), at 3 Crewe Place, Regent Road, Salford.  It is not clear who "son" John is and perhaps it is Jane, or a son-in-law.
1838 William Crompton 1840 Alice Crompton The birth for Alice was registered as MATHER, not CROMPTON.  This appeares to have been an error. 1843 Ellen Crompton 1845 Richard Crompton 1848 Jane Crompton 1851 Elizabeth Crompton In 1871, Eliza married John Chadwick at St. Paul's,  Bury 1854 Mary Crompton 1836 James Crompton 1810 Margaret Mather 1841 James Mather In 1860, James, sizer, son of Joseph Mather, a labourer married Nancy Ponfret Cooper, dau of Page Ponfret Cooper at St Peter, Bolton.

1790 - 1860 Frances Mather 70 70 Frances was born in Breightmet about 1790, but what was her maiden name.  Possible Bolton baptisms for Francis are Taylor (1788); Stanley (1790); Holland (1792) <unknown> Mather 1789 - 1856 Peter Smith 67 67 14 Apr 1811, Peter Smith, a shoe maker, married Ellen Grundy at Farnworth. Witness James Smith.  He also married Jemima Statham 24 Oct 1819 and had daughter Margaret in 1820. This may be him (similar signatures), but later in 1841 and 1851, when older, he is a labourer.

20 Sep 1835, Peter Smith (widower) married Betty Mather (widow) at St Peter's Bolton. Witness Peter Entwistle.

In 1841, Peter (a labourer) and Betty Smith (50 & 45) were living at Kersley Mill, Farnworth.  With them were Jane Haslam (25) and her four Haslam children.  His son Peter (12) was living with his three older half-sisters Margaret (20), Jamima (18) and Mary (16) at King's Street (nr. Jane (also known as Jenny when Mary baptised) may have remarried (civil marriage). There are no indexed (CoE) marriages with the father named as Collinge or Collins. However, in 1851, the ghildren were with their grandfather Peter Smith so its also likely she had died.
1809 - 1839 Nathan Haslam 30 30 Nathan was "the son of Lawrence Haslam (-1829) of Kersley and Betty (1772-1846) his wife"

All of Nathan's children's baptisms show Nathas was a Collier living at Kearsley (1829 to 1839).

Ellen wife of Peter Smith of Farnworth and Bolton, Shoe maker must have died as he married again in 1819

In 1841, Ellen and Peter Smith Shoe Maker (both 50) are at Prescot, St. Helens.  This must be another couple as Peter Smith Shoe maker married Jemima in 1819.
1807 Ann Smith Ann daughter of Peter & Ellen Smith of Farnworth was baptised 12 April 1807 (but parents didnt marry until 1811) 1808 - 1894 Charles Ambro Stephenson 86 86 Charles was born in born Graystoke, Cumberland

There are 7 possible marriages between 1856 and 1861 (6 non-conformist/registry office) which may be her.
1813 - 1857 James Mather 44 44 Who was this James that died in 1857 in W Bolton, aged 44?  It cant be the James b.1813 who married Margaret Stockton (aka Slater) as he was still alve, living in Sharples in 1861.  He must be the daughter of James and Sarah (or illigitimate son of Ann Mather).

1791 - 1842 William Mather 51 51 A William Mather died in Little Bolton in 1842 but who is he?  Is he related to our L.B. Mather family?

From the 1841 census (Barlow Row, L.B.) it appears that William and Jane (both 45) are husband and wife, with Helen (15) and James (8).  However, there is no marriage for such.  Instead, there are probably cousins - tbc.

William died in 1842, aged 50 so was born about 1792. The closest matching Bolton baptisms, is for son of James and Sarah.  This fits will with his children's names.

William married Catherine, but she died in 1834 so William's children were brought up by him and "Jane".  Wow is Jane Mather related?

NOTE: Assumed to be the John Mather & Alice Gore family (as DOB matches death), but could also be son of Thomas b.1766 at Little Hulton (better expected age and place of birth, matching Alice Mort).

In 1841, John Mather (65), George Mather (25) and Frederic Fish (20) were at Derby Street, East Bolton

6 Nov 1831, Elizabeth married Peter Hilton (the same day Sarah Mather married Thomas Welsby). This may have been a double marriage as Sarah Mather married the same day.  However, it is now believed thay were not sisters.  Census records show the Elizabeth Mather sister of Sarah was born 1805 in Little Bolton and married Edmund Heaton.

Jan 1832 "Betty" had her daughter Catherine baptised (less than two months after the marriage)

In 1850 and 1861, Elizabeth and Peter (and Elizabeth's mother Grace) were in Racine, Wisconsin, USA.
1803 - 1870 Mary Mather 66 66 No DNA matches to this family, so unsure who's Mary's parents are.  There are a couple of possibilities, but not the Mary of same age that died in 1817, aged 14.  Most likely is daughter of John Mather and Betty Edge, as they had a son John and daughters Betsy (all died as infants) ~1780 - <1841 John Mather 61 61 23 March 1825, John Mather, a weaver, married Betty Bradley, a widow, at Deane.

8 Sep 1850, another John Mather of Derby Street, Bolton died, aged 75.
1777 - 1841 Betty Bradley (Wid) 64 64 This is not Elizabeth Gradwell (who married another John Mather) William Barker In 1825, William Barker (widow) married Mary Mather Mary Mather 1797 - 1876 James Lee 79 79 24 Mar 1823 James Lee married Mary Mather (spinster), so Mary McQuire may be another person.  The birth of Samuel in 1838 shows MMN = MATHER, but margeret in 1840 is MMN = MCQUIRE.

Alice (1818-1819) is the only child (death) record of parents John and Mary Allen following their marriage.  It shows John a Tapemaker at Collyhurst, so this is probably another family.

There are Martha and David Allen, children of John a weaver and Mary of Hopwood baptised at Prestwich in 1817 and 1820 but this family also had Richard of Prestwich in May 1815 (before the 1816 marriage) so this may also be another family, or possibly Richard was illegitimate or from another family.  There are no Prestwich baptisms before Richard.  After that they had Walker and Arthur baptised at Middleton, all recorded as abode Hopwood.

In 1841, John a cotton weaver and Mary (both 50) were at Back York Street, Heywood, Bury with David (20) and Arthur (15).

1817 Martha Allen 1815 - 1816 Richard Allen 1 1 WARNING: Richard was baptised before John and Mary married, is not recorded as from Hopwood, and appears to have died at Whitefield aged 20 months, so may belong to another family.

This is more likely Richard of Birch, Middleton, not the Richard, Surgeon of Birch in Rusholme, Manchester who married Francess Chappe, also son of a John Allen.

In 1851, Robert and Mary (both 47) were at Pall Mall, Chorley with Richard (20), John (18), Esther (16), Thomas (14), William (12), Mary Jane (9), Robert (5) and Jane (2).

In 1881, Robert (77, Widower) was living at 10 Brook Street, Chorley.  He died in 1888.
1804 Mary Cunliffe The four births after 1837 show MMN = CUNLIFFE, but there is no corresponding marriage.  This is easily explained if Mary had been married before.

30 March 1823, Mary Ann Cunliffe married James Bolton at Walton-le-Dale near Preston.  James died in Dec 1823, just 9 months after he had married, aged 19.

2 Sep 1826, Mary Bolton (Wid) married Robert Mather at St Lawrence, Chorley.

In 1841, Robert and Mary (both 35) were at Pall Mall, Chorley with James (10), Ann (10), Richard (9), John (7), Thomas (4), Easther (6) and William (2)

In 1851, Robert and Mary (both 47) were at Pall Mall, Chorley with Richard (20), John (18), Esther (16), Thomas (14), William (12), Mary Jane (9), Robert (5) and Jane (2).
1830 Ann Mather 6 Apr 1849, Ann Mather daughter of Robert married Edward Collinson at Standish, Lancashire, 1831 Richard Mather 1832 John Mather 1837 Thomas Mather 1835 Esther Mather 1839 William Mather 1841 Mary Jane Mather 1849 Sarah Mather 1804 - 1823 James Bolton 19 19 1844 Alice Mather In Q2 1861, Alice Mather married Robert Calderwood (a civil marriage, possibly Methodist)..

In 1900,  Alice Calderwood (56, Wid) was at Essex, NJ, USA.

In 1920, Alice "Grand-mother-in-law" was still alive in East Orange Ward 3, Essex, New Jersey, USA
1862 Elizabeth Calderwood In 1861, Elizabeth was born and baptised in Little Bolton

In 1891, Elizabeth Calderwood (29) was a patient at St Helens, Sutton hospital.  This may be another Elizabeth born in Bury the same year.

3 June 1885 Elizabeth Calderwood married Frederick Gooding Mason (1860-1909) at Omaha, Douglas, Nebraska, USA.

In 1886, they had a daughter Alice Calderwood Mason
1841 Robert Calderwood In 1851 Robert (9) was with Charles and Elizabeth Yates at  Wigan, their grandson, and probably the son of Euphonnia Calderwood (28, a step-daughter).

In April 1861, Robert Calderwood (20), a British Subject, born in the  USA was a Brass Turner, lodging with Wright and Sarah Mather and family in Little Bolton.

In Q2 1861, Robert Calderwood married Alice mather (a civil marriage, possibly Methodist). There are no obvious close relatives of Wright Mather who could be this Alice.

In 1862, Elizabeth was born and baptised in Little Bolton.

After 1862, there is no death of any Calderwood in Lancashire.  It appears Robert (and Alice and Elizabeth)  returned to the USA (Nebraska).
1851 John Entwistle In 1877, John Entwistle married Eliza Jane Mather (just after their daughter Sarah Mather was born).

In 1881, John and Eliza J Entwistle (30 & 26) were at 6 Halliwell Court, Halliwell with Sarah (2) and Elizabeth (1).

In 1888 there were two other Mather+Entwistle marriages (John in Bolton and George at Walmsley).

In 1891, John and Eliza J Entwistle (43 & 34) were at 3 Argyle Street, Sharples with Mary (7), Eliza (5) and Emily (4 mo).

In 1901, John and Eliza J Entwistle (50 & 47) were living at 47 Broughton Street, Halliwell with daughter Sarah Mather (22), and Mary E and John Entwistle (16 & 8).
1856 - 1929 Eliza Jane Mather 72 72 In 1877, John Entwistle married Eliza Jane Mather (just after their daughter Sarah Mather was born).

1892 John Entwistle 1878 Sarah Mather (Entwistle) Sarah Mather of Halliwell Court, daughter of Eliza Jane Mather  when bapotised and in 1881 aged 2.

Where was Sarah in 1891 ?

In 1901, Sarah Mather was 22, so born before her parents married.
1884 Mary Ellen Entwistle In 1911, Mary Ellen Entwistle (265) was the adopted daughter of William Henry and Elizabeth Ann Scott (both 42), livinjg at 302 Wigan Road, Westhoughton 1890 Emily Entwistle 1886 Eliza Entwistle 1880 - 1882 Elizabeth Entwistle 1 1 1795 - 1817 John Mather 22 22 John is probably the son of Isaac or Solomon, both of Turton.  There is a 6 year gap where Isaac and Alice probably had children (and baptism records are missing)

John Mather born about 1795 died at Edgworth and buried  11 May, 1817 at St. Ann's, aged 22. This may be a missing family member.

2 March 1817, John Mather, labourer, married Mary McQuire at St. Peter's Bolton.  Their witness was James Bromiley.  Marriage or Mary's cooking! didn't agree with John.  He was married in March and died in May!

Did John and Mary have a son?  John Mather, son of John  and Mary Mather of Bradshaw died Nov 1825, aged 8 so could be his son, although no reference to John deceased or Mary's new married name.  Son John's baptism does confirm John was a labourer.
1826 - 1826 Peter Smith 3m 3m 1828 Peter Smith 8 Jun 1828, Peter was baptised, son of Peter (a shoe maker) and Betty. NOTE: There was another Peter born in 1828, son of John and Margaret Smith, who died aged 2.

In 1841, Peter (12), a rope maker, was living with his three older half-sisters Margaret (20), Jamima (18) and Mary (16) at King's Street (nr. Deansgate), West Bolton.

In 1861, there was a Peter Smith (32), born Bolton, nail maker lodging in Todmorden.  Sep 1863, this Peter Smith (34), a nail maker, married Jane Riley (23).  His father was John Smith, also a nail maker.
1817 - 1874 Mary Mather 57 57 11 Jan 1841, Mary Mather married Richard Howcroft.  Later in June 1841, Richard and Mary (both 20) were at Hollins Cottages, Middle Hulton.  Then Richard Howcroft (a coal miner) died, so possibly a mining accident.  They had a daughter Ann baptised in 1842, after Richard had died.

21 Apr 1845 Mary (widow and daughter of John) married John Guest, and Elizabeth was born soon after.  However, it appears the marriage didnt last and Mary left John.

In 1851, daughter Ann Howcroft was living with her grandparents John and Ann Mather at 31 Nobel Street, W Bolton.

From 1849 to 1856 Mary had 7 children by John Haslam.  MMN = MATHER recorded for 7 births in Western Bolton.

In 1861, Mary was living with John Haslam
1842 Ann Howcroft (Haslam) Ann "Haslan" was born about 1841 to 1843.  There were 9 Ann(e) Haslam births in Bolton over this period.  However, none have a common Mothers Maiden Name with her sister Elizabeth's births (so probably adopted half-sisters and Elizabeth is probably from Mary's previous marriage).

Ann was born and baptised in 1842, after her father Richard Howcroft had died.   Her mother Mary remarried and Ann was probably brought up be her grandparents.

In 1851, Ann Howcroft (aged 9 and a lodger) was living with her grandparents John and Ann (67 & 64)

In 1865, Ann married John Southern.

In 1871, married daughter Ann Neaham (28, should be Southern) was with her parents John and Mary Haslam.
1845 Elizabeth Guest (Haslam) There is no birth registered for Elizabeth with MMN = MATHER, so she may be from another marriage. The three Elizabeth Haslam biths registeres in 1845-46 are others:
1) The daughter of Peter and Sarah Haslam nee Dumbhill, fatmers of Tong, Sharples.
2) The daughter of John and Mary Yates (not Gates) who moved from Bolton to Manchester
3) The daughter of Samuel and Margaret Greenhalgh who died in 1848 aged 1.
Therefore she must be an adopted daughter, probably Mary's from an earlier marriage.

25 Nov 1868, Elizabeth, daughter of John Haslam a weaver of Emmanuel Street married Thomas Booth.
1803 - 1854 Mary (Mariann) Ann Mather 51 51 No DNA matches.

MaryAnn is probably the daughter of William Mather and Mary, baptised at Bolton 10 April 1803, but there are no Bolton marriage of a William and Mary before 1803, so probably the family from Westhoughton.

In 1819, MaryAnn possibly had an Illegitimate daughter Ruth Mather (who married George Hulme in 1839).

1822-24, recorded as Marianne Rasthorn when Thomas and Mary baptised, and later Mary Ann.  All the children's baptisms show their abode as Breightmet. In 1851, daughter Mary Ann Young recorded her birthplace as Breightmet Hill.

Mary Ann France was 48 in 1851, so born about 1803.  She is probably the daughter of William and Mary Mather, baptised April 1803.  There are no marriages for a William and Mary at Bolton, and her parents are not William Mather and Mary Petty from Billinge, near Wigan, married 31 Oct 1802 as they had a daughter Ann baptised there 12 Dec 1802.  William Mather and Mary Rosthern seems much more likely, married at Warrington 22 Aug 1976.  William and Mary Green from Westhoughton is another family.  William and Mary Clegg married in 1797 is another possibility.

In 1821, Mary Ann Mather married James Rawsthorn at Deane St Mary.

1 June 1835, Mary Ann Rostron, widow, married Richard France, widower.

In 1841, Richard & Ann (both 40) were with Elizabeth (15), Sarah (13) and Ellen France (5), and Thomas (2), Mary Ann (15), William (13) and Ruth Rostron (7); also three France daughters, two from previous marriage and Ellen (5).

In 1869, (trial 5 July) Mary Ann Rawsthorn (must be another) was imprisoned for larceny.

1894 - 1977 Thomas Harold Marsh 82 82 1873 Thomas Mather 1874 Mary Ann Mather 1876 Robert Mather 1881 Alice Mather 1885 Ellen Mather 1886 Richard Mather 1888 Mark Edge Mather 1890 Joseph Edge Mather 1880 - 1882 Jane Mather 1 1 1878 - 1880 Sarah Mather 1 1 1892 John Mather 1895 Ivy Mather 1868 - 1955 Thomas Marsh 87 87 In 1871, Thomas (2, nephew) was living with Alice Townley (nee Mather) 1863 - 1917 Mary Ann Flitcroft 54 54 1892 - 1942 Ethel Marsh 50 50 6 Dec 1919, Ethem married Charles Henry Ratcliffe at Fletcher Street Wesleyan Methodist, Bolton 1899 Stanley Marsh 1901 Doris Marsh 1869 - 1869 Rachel Edge 2m 2m 1873 - 1940 Sarah Edge 66 66 Sarah Billington 1843 - 1921 Rachel Proctor 78 78 Daughter of Benjamin Proctor.

Aged 8 ijn 1851, living with grandparents.

In 1861, Rachel (18) was with her grandmother Elizabeth Lomax (63) at 37 Rothwell Street.  Mary Mather, who married Benjamin Marsh and died in 1869 was a neighbour at 41 Rothwell Street.

12 Feb 1875, Rachel Proctor married Benjamin Marsh, a widow.
1876 - 1877 Sarah Elizabeth Marsh 8m 8m 1876 Ellen Evans 1841 Thomas Ramsden 1880 Alice Ann Ramsden Aged 1 in 1881

In 1911, Alice Ann Ramsden was still single, living with her mother Ellen and half-brother Robert Ramsden at 4 Cross Carmrod Street, SW Bolton.

In 1918, Alice Ann Ramsden was described as a spinster in her mother's probate.
1872 John Billington 1897 - 1956 Albert Billington 58 58 11 Apr 1925, Albert married Beatrice Smith (1899-1970).  In 1928, they had a son Arnold Billington (1897-1956)

22 Mar 1970, Beatrice died at 4 Tottington Road, Harwood, Turton (where she was living in 1939).

In 1851, William and Sarah Chorlton (46 & 44) were with William (16), Sarah (12), Isaac (10), Alice (7) and James (4)
1841 Isaac Chorlton 1845 Alice Chorlton 1847 James Chorlton 1838 Sarah Chorlton 1834 William Chorlton 1808 Jane Mather The Jane that married John Chorlton was probably the daughter of John and Alice.  There is no marriage record found, and Alice and James were registered as WALKER, not Mather.  However, all other BMD and census records confirm Jane's maiden name was MATHER.

Jane may have been a Widow TAYLOR when she married John Chorlton (or Charlton), but no marriage chain. She may have married twice (first to Thomas Sim Smith 2 Jan 1826, Prescot, witness John Mather).  She may have been Jane Mort (not Mather) when she marriad.

In 1829, Jane WALKER married John TAYLOR at Bolton.

In 1841, Jane and John Chorlton (both 30) were wilth William and Sarah Chrolton (10 & 5) at Derby Street, Great Bolton (East). Also present was her father John Mather (65) and uncle George Mather (25). Three other possible children from earlier marriages were Richard and Ann WALKER (both 15), Freerick FISH (10), and Mary TAYLOR (10).

In 1841, John Mather (65), George Mather (25) and Frederic Fish (20) were at Derby Street, East Bolton.
1702 - 1776 Samuel Mather 74 74 In 1739, Samuel Mather of Deane married Mary Haeys of Leigh (at Leigh) by Banns.

Samuel Mather was a widower when he married Mary Yates.  Before that, he may have been married to Mary's sister, Ann Yates of Eccles (married 1732).  Another possibility is Mary Hayes of Leigh (married 1739)
~1780 Robert Walsh In 1841, There was Robert and Elizabeth Walsh (both 50) at Bradshaw Mill with james and Thomas (both 20) and others, but this must be another family to the James and Tjomas with Richard Mather in 1841. ~1780 Betty Mather 1821 Thomas Walsh In 1841, Thomas Walsh (21) was with Richared Mather (79) at Stable Row, West Bolton. 1826 James Walsh In 1841, James Walsh (15) was with Richared Mather (79) at Stable Row, West Bolton.

This is not James son or Robert and Elizabeth of Little Bolton who was with his parents in 1841.

15 Feb 1846, James Walsh, son of Robert married Margaret Knox.

In 1851, James was a lodger and widower.
