Birth Notes

Joseph's father was James Holder Bowling and his mother was Maria Mather. His maternal grandparents were James Mather and Rachel Hamer. He had four brothers and six sisters, named James, Timothy, James, Thomas, Hannah, Nanny, Ellen, Rachel, Sarah and Francis. He was the second oldest of the eleven children.
