Sarah was born in September 1860 in Over Darwen.¹

Birth Notes

Sarah's father was Edmund Holden and her mother was Sarah Mather. Her maternal grandparents were James Mather and Rachel Hamer. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, Elijah, Richard, George, Ann, Alice and Rachel. She was the youngest of the eight children.
