Fred was born in September 1885 in Edgworth.¹

Birth Notes

Fred's father was William Mather and his mother was Sarah Jane Briggs. His paternal grandparents were Andrew Mather and Elizabeth (Isabel) Holden. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named Joseph, Andrew, George, William, John, Amos, Samuel, Alice and Annie. He was the third youngest of the ten children. He died at 2 months old in November 1885 in Edgworth. He was buried on November 25th, 1885 at St. Anne (Turton).²¹
