Amos was born in October 1884 in Edgworth and his baptism took place on October 26th, 1884 at St. Anne (Turton).1 2  Amos' father was William Mather and his mother was Sarah Jane Briggs.  His paternal grandparents were Andrew Mather and Elizabeth (Isabel) Holden. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named Joseph, Andrew, George, William, John, Fred, Samuel, Alice and Annie.  He was the fourth youngest of the ten children.  He died at 1 months old in November 1884 in Turton.  He was buried on November 13th, 1884 at St. Anne (Turton).3 1
