Andrew was born on September 2nd, 1821 in Turton and his baptism took place on September 30th, 1821 at Walmsley Presbyterian.¹

Birth Notes

Andrew's father was James Mather and his mother was Rachel Hamer. His paternal grandparents were Isaac Mather and Alice Fielding; his maternal grandparents were John Hamer and Mary (Mally) Bury. He had five brothers and five sisters, named James, John, Charles, Isaac, Andrew, Ann, Nancy, Jane, Sarah and Maria. He was the fourth youngest of the eleven children. He died about 1822 in Turton.
