John Mather

John was born in 1810 in Edgworth and his baptism took place about 1810 at Walmsley Presbyterian.

Birth Notes
- Probably all the family were baptised at Walmsley Presbyterian, and since many records were lost 1794-1815, which would explain why there is no baptism recorded.

John's father was James Mather and his mother was Rachel Hamer. His paternal grandparents were Isaac Mather and Alice Fielding; his maternal grandparents were John Hamer and Mary (Mally) Bury. He had five brothers and five sisters, named James, Charles, Isaac, Andrew, Andrew, Ann, Nancy, Jane, Sarah and Maria. He was the second oldest of the eleven children. He died after 1881 in Eccleshill.
