Andrew was born on September 25th, 1885 in Darwen.¹ Andrew's father was James Mather and his mother was Mary Jane Marsden. His paternal grandparents were Andrew Mather and Elizabeth (Isabel) Holden. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Edward, Simon, Elizabeth, Nancy, Margaret and Daisy. He was the third youngest of the seven known children. He died after 1939.
