A farmer of 80 acres. His sisters Harriet, Elizabeth and Amelia were with him. 1813 - 1886 Ann Dod- Hopley 73 73 Ann appears to have stayed with her mother and father. 1815 - 1878 Harriet Hopley 62 62 Unmarried in 1851, but not with family at farm by 1861. 

In 1861, Harriet Hopley (39, visitor) is staying with George and Catherine Parker in Lewisham, Sydenham, described as a gentleman's daughter.  In 1871 shw was back at Billinge with here spinster sisters. 1817 Elizabeth Hopley Unmarried in 1851 1828 - 1879 Amelia Dod- Hopley 51 51 Unmarried in 1851, aged 21.

In 1861, she had sibling and 3 children with her, but these were the children of Randle (aka Robert).

In 1871 still single, aged 39, living with her nephew and two sisters. 1821 - 1821 Robert Dod- Hopley 2m 2m 1823 - 1891 Randle (Robert) Dod-Hopley 68 68 Randle, who went by the name Robert after 1861, is the only child of Robert and Anne to have a family. 1825 - 1908 Mariane (Mary Ann) Broomfield 83 83 Schoolmisteres in 1881, living with son Charles 1854 Charles Hopley 1858 William Povey Hopley 1860 - 1861 Mary Jane Bond Hopley 1 1 1865 Mary Hopley 1791 - 1862 Ann Hopley 71 71 1852 Robert George Dod-Hopley 1864 John Dod- Hopley 1743 - 1793 William John Dod-Hopley 50 50 Mr John Dod, or John Dod Hopley. The "Mr" is probably significant, and its not normally used for othrs, but always is for John, and in some cases underlined too.  John is a land or property owner and Gentleman.

Probably John Dod never married Hannah, which explaines the choise of names on various baptism records.  However the baptisms (eg Anne's) do refer to "Hannah his wife" 1748 - 1835 Hannah Hopley 87 87 Hannah died at Edge in 1835.  The Higher Hall, Edge was rebuilt about 1845 and is now a Grade II listed building. 1788 - 1793 Christian Dod- Hopley 5 5 Christian Hopley Dod Daugher of John and Hannah Hopley of Clutton Baptised 13 Jan 1788, Farndon (and buried 7 June 1793).   1785 - 1846 Anne Dod- Hopley 61 61 1781 Rebecca Dod- Hopley 1782 - 1787 Robert Dod- Hopley 5 5 Robert was born (or from) The Higher Hall, Edge 1819 - 1820 Hannah Hopley 1 1 ~1780 Richard Kenney Richard was a Clerk when he married Rebecca.  Interestingly, and probably coincendentaly, Richard Kenney was also the curate who prepared the register. 1819 Mairanne Kenney 1816 Rebeccah Kenney 1815 Frederick Kenney ~1800 Richard Richardson 1805 - 1838 Rebekah Dod- Hopley 33 33 Randle's real estate was then left to his two infant daughters, Rebecca and Christiana (unless he later had a son, in which case the son would inherit the estate, and the daughters £1000 each).

Two of Randle's friends Robert Caldercot of Cuddington and Thomas Jones of Aldresey were the executors, and also guardians of his infant daughters. 1780 - 1808 Randle Hopley 28 28 According to his Will, Randle Hopley of Clutton, Cheshire was a gentleman.

Randle had property in Edge, inherited from his brother John Dod and occupied by Mr Daniel Roscoe.  This was left to his wife Anne and his two daughters.

Randle also had personal estate and property inherited from his father.  This was divided equally between his mother, brother and two sisters, but on the condition his mother didnt claim inheritenance due to her from her late husband.

Two of Randle's friends Robert Caldercot of Cuddington and Thomas Jones of Aldresey were the executors, and also guardians of his infant daughters. 1784 - >1808 Anne Povey 24 24 Ann recieved an annunity from Randle of £50 (his mother Hannah had £20) to be paid to her for life out of the income from the estate, payable quaterly if four equal portions on 25-March, 24-June, 29-Sept and 25-Dec (?why these dates?).

4 Dec 1838, Sidney Sherlock married Mary Ann Gardner at Walton on the Hill, Lancashire

In 1851, Sidney a wine merchant and Mary Ann (39 & 33) were living in Halewood with their daughter Jessie (10) and two Irish servants. 1814 Harold Hopley Sherlock 1814 Eliza Sherlock 1818 Henry Loat Sherlock 1821 Jessie Rebecca Sherlock 1825 Charles Edmund Sherlock Charles Edmund christened 15 July 1825 was probably the last of the children, although there are other christenings in Hulme, Manchester for Joseph (23-Feb-1825), James (1828) and William (1831), all sons of Thomas and Ann. In 1841, Robert, Ann and family are at "Calvey Hall" (probably Calveley Hall).  This is at Milton Green, 1 Km north of Handley.  Handley is adjacent on the 1841 census return.

Robert must be a sucessful farmer, as they have 6 children and 5 servants.

In 1861, Robert and Ann (74 & 72) were in Lancashire with John (46), Ann (40), Elizabeth (36) and Amelia (28) and three of Randle's children.
