Thomas' father was Joseph Booth and his mother was Ann Pinnington. He had a brother and three sisters, named Sarah, Eliza, Jane and Hannah.  He was the third oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 3 in 1845 in Tonge-with-Haulgh.¹
