John was born on January 21st, 1854 in Derbyshire.1  John's father was Thomas Brooks and his mother was Margaret (Peggy) Holding. He had three sisters named Ann, Jane and Clara.  He was the second oldest of the four known children.  He died at the age of 66 on December 14th, 1920 in Utah (UT).1

‌John and Nancy were married in a religious ceremony on August 28th, 1882 at St. Peter's (Bolton).3  They had two sons and two daughters, named James, John, Clara and Gertrude.  The family line is yet to be completed.
