Hannah was born on March 17th, 1809 in Outwood and her baptism took place on March 30th, 1809 at the St. Matthew (Little Lever).1  Hannah's father was Thomas Openshaw and her mother was Jane Tomlinson. She had three brothers and seven sisters, named John, Thomas, Job, Sarah, Mary, Catherine, Sarah, Harriet, Elizabeth and Catherine.  She was the third oldest of the eleven children.
