Benjamin was born in 1826 in Tottington and his baptism took place on May 1st, 1826 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Bury).1  Benjamin's father was Benjamin Beswick and his mother was Alice Rothwell. He had two sisters named Mary and Ann.  He was the youngest of the three known children.
