Alice's father was Thomas Openshaw and her mother was Catherine (Cassandra) Haslam.  Her paternal grandparents were James Openshaw and Mary Holt; her maternal grandparents were John Haslam and Alice Kay (TBC). She had five brothers and a sister, named John, Job, Thomas, William, John and Mary.  She was the second oldest of the seven children.
