John's father was Richard Booth and his mother was Jane Draper.  His paternal grandparents were Richard Booth and Catherine Whalley. He had a brother and a sister, named James and Sally.  He was the youngest of the three known children.  He died at the age of 1 in March 1826 in Bolton.  He was buried on March 14th, 1826 at St. Peter's (Bolton).²
