Mary was born on March 29th, 1851 in Bolton.1  Mary's father was Job Openshaw and her mother was Alice Haslam.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Openshaw and Jane Tomlinson. She had three brothers named Thomas, John and Job.  She was the third oldest of the four children.
