29 Sep 1766, William Mather married Elizabeth Ingham at Prestwich.  The following day, there was a marriage for Jane Mather, but who is she?

1800 - 1801 Ellen Mather 9m 9m 1796 - 1849 Hardy Mather 53 53 In 1841, Hardy and Betty (both 40) were living at Stand Lane, Piklington with their only son Richard (15).

Hardy died at Chapel field, aged 52.  Burial records "son of Richard Mather" with no wife being shown,.
1794 - 1800 Rachel Mather 6 6 Rachel Mather married William Parks on 29 June 1817 1799 - 1842 Elizabeth (Betty) Kay 43 43 1822 Richard Mather ~1705 - 1771 John Mather 66 66 John was a Shoemaker from Whitefield near Prestwich.  There was another John Mather from Whitefield, a Thatcher (his son Richard died in 1735), and possibly another, a Husbandman (his son Thomas died in 1735).

He was also a weaver (recorded for William's baptism)
~1705 - 1786 Joanna Hilton 81 81 1729 Thomas Mather Thomas a cordwainer and his brother John a weaver were both married at Prestwich the same week.  Thomas's father John was also a cordwainer.

On the 14th April 1751, Thomas Mather, cordwainer,  married Elizabeth Robinson at St Mary the Virgin, Prestwich.

On 20 March 1859, Nathaniel, son of Nathaniel married Mary Crow, daughter of Peter Crow, a farmer of Middleton

In 1881, Nathaniel, a finisher at Binhoorks, and Mary (41 & 40) were at 21 Chapel Street, Middleton with James (21), Mary Ann (11) and Nancy (5)

In 1891, Nathaniel and Mary (51 & 50)  were at 39 Chapel Street, Middleton with their daughter Nancy (51)

In 1911, Nathaniel (71) and James (51), both Widowers were living with Harry and Mary Ann Holt
1757 - 1794 James Mather 37 37 James is probably the son of John and Mary Mather from Whitefields.  The age matches, its the nearest parish (other than Bolton), and the first two children (Mary and John) are named after his parents.

In 1780 when the first John was baptised, they lived at Little Bolton, but Great Bolton in 1782 when he was buried.

On the 9th April 1751, John Mather, weaver,  married Mary Dawson at St Mary the Virgin, Prestwich.  Three months later their son Thomas was baptised.
1819 - 1887 Wright Mather 68 68 In 1881, Wright and Sarah (61 & 49) were at Old Hall Street, Middleton with Walter (20) and Martha A (16) ~1740 Robert Madther ~1740 Rachel Ogden 1763 Sally Madther 1778 - 1838 Rachel Madther 60 60 Born 1778, Rachel Madther (later known as Rachel Mather) was the daughter of Robert Madther and Rachel.

On 7 Nov 1803, Rachel Mather (not Madther) married James Taylor of Whitefield at Prestwich St Mary.
1782 - 1838 Samuel Mather 56 56 1770 - 1834 John Mather 64 64 1765 Ann Mather 1862 Thomas Horrocks 1860 Ada Mather Ede married in 1885.  Ede was the daughter of Nathan Mather, a Cotton finisher from Rhodes.  Her witnesses were Nathan & Annie Mather 1829 - 1910 Nathan Mather 81 81 Natahn's parents were Jesse (shown on marriage) and Hannah Mather

In 1841, Nathen Mather (12) was at Half Acre, Stand

27 May 1849, Nathan Mather was witness to the marriage to Thomas Briggs and his sister Mary Mather at All Saints, Stand.

In 1851, Nathan (22, Single) was with his parents and family at Stand, Bury.

9 Nov 1851, Nathan Mather was witness to the marriage of Richard Walker, a carter, and Ann Riley at All Saints, Stand.

From 1851 to 1867 Nathan was witness to four more marriages at Stand, including his niece Margaret Mather in 1867.

About 1861 the family moved from Whitefield to Prestwich, Manchester where Annie and James were born.

In 1871, Nathan and Elizabeth (42 & 40) were at Great Heaton with their 4 children and Elizabeth's mother Alice Twist (78).

This is another Nathan(iel) Mather, also from Rhodes near Middleton (in 1860) when Ada married..
1830 - 1909 Betty Twist 79 79 Betty Twist was from Stand Lane, Pilkington, daughter of Peter Twist a crofter.

11 Nov 1955, Betty Twist married Nathan Mather of Kirkhams at the Parish Church of Stand.
1857 George Mather 1863 Annie Mather 1866 James Jesse Mather Did James change his mind?  Marriage Banns March 20, 27 and 3 April 1887 are at Rhodes All Saints for Elizabeth (changed to Ellen) Partington.  He married Ellen Partington Q2 1887 at Middleton, Holy Trinity.

In 1911, James Jesse Mather and Ellen (both 45) were at 31 Manchester Old Road, Middleton with their 4 surviving sons (2 other children had died)
1792 - 1852 Hannah Emmerson 60 60 1792 - 1851 Jesse Mather 59 59 In 1841, Jesse and Hannah (both 49) were at Half Acre (looks like "Half Close"), Pilkington with Betty (25), Ellen (24), James (21), Joseph (19), Hannah (14), Mary (14), Nathan (12), Sarah (10), Aaron (8), Ester 8) Rachel (6) and Leah (4).

In 1851, Jesse and Hannah (59 & 58) were at Stand, Pilkington with Nathan (22), Aaron (17), Rachel (16) and Leah (14).

Jesse died in Q3 1851 (and his son Arron at Half Acre in 1854).
1834 - 1854 Aaron Mather 20 20 Esther and Arron, presumed twins, were aged 8 in 1841. However, Esther was not with Arron in 1851 and her marriage shows her father was a Thomas Mather, not Jesse.

Arron, son of Jesse Mather of Half Acre died in 1854 aged 20.
1835 Rachel Mather 1837 Leah Mather 11 Aug 11861, Leah Mather, daughter of Jesse married Kay Hilton, son of Mary ZAnn Hilton (father not named) at Stand All Saints. 1807 - 1876 William Mather 69 69 1800-1809, Richard's siblings; Ellen, Sally, John and Martha were all born at Redvales. Bury is shows for Richard's baptism, so is most likely to have been born at Redvales, South Bury.

In 1834, William was at Redvales (Redivales) when Martha was baptised.

In 1841, William and Mary (both 30) at Healds, South Bury had Elizabeth (11), Mary (9), Martha (7), Richard (6) and Thomas (2).

In 1851, William and Mary (43 & 40) were at Healds, South Bury with Elizabeth (20), Mary (18), Richard (13), Thomas (12), James (7), John (4) and Samuel (1).

In 1861, William (53) was at Redvales with Elizabeth (30), Richard and Thomas (24 & 22) and James, John and Samuel (17, 14 & 11), all from first marriage.

In 1871, William (63), born Burnley, was with Elizabeth (40, dau, single) and Samuel (21).

James Mather, weaver, son of Jesse Mather married Eliza Morris of Miffleton at Middleton.

In 1861, James & Eliza (41 & 39) were at Whitefield, Pilkington with their three daughters Hannah, Mary and Alice (18, 15, 10)

In 1866, daughters Hannah and Mary both married at Stand Church.
1822 - 1852 Joseph Mather 30 30 In 1851, Joseph and Nancy (29 & 28) were at Whiefield with Betty, Joseph (2) and Francis (4 mo)

Joseph died in 1852. (The two MATHER+REDFORD births for 1853 and 1854 are for Joseph's brother Robert Mather and Mary Ann Pickstones nee Redford).

By 1861, Joseph had died.  Nancy (38, Wid, Head) was at Half Acre, Pilkington with Kitty (16), Joseph (12) and Francis (10)
1825 Hannah Mather 4 May 1845, Hannah Mather, daughter of Jesse married Ralph Briggs, both of Prestwich at Oldham St Mary. 1827 Mary Mather 27 May 1849 Mary, daughter of Jesse mather married Thomas Briggs, a brick layer at Stand All Saints.  Both were living at Half Acre.  Nathan Mather was a witness.

In 1861, Thomas and Mary Briggs (35 & 34) were at Newton Heath, Manchester with Elizabeth Ann (4) and Mark (3)

In 1851, Robert (36) was a widow with 3 daughters Nancy, Eliza and Margaret.(11, 9 and 5), living with his parents Jesse and Hannah Mather.

In 1851, Robert's wife Alice died and the following year, Robert Remarried.

15 April 1851, Robert Mather (Wid) of Half Acre, son of Jesse Mather married Mary Ann Pickstone (Wid) of Half Acre, daughter of William Redford.

In 1867, Eliza Mather (and also Nathan, probabvly her uncle) was witness to her sister Margaret's marriage.
1848 Richard Mather 1850 Mary Ann Mather 1835 Ann Mather Ann married in Dec 1853.  Ann Mather a winder of Whitefield, was the daughter of Peter Mather, a warper.

In 1841, Ann Mather (6) and assumed brother Samuel (15) were living with the Taylor family at Piklington.  John and Lucy Mather and family were neighbours.
1775 William Mather 1827 Robert Mather 3 Jan 1854, Robert Mather, weaver of Whitefield, son of John Mather, a warper married Ellen Greenhalgh, weaver of Whitefield, daughter of William Grfeenhalgh.  Both of full age.

In 1861, Robert and Ellen (34 & 29) were in Pilkington with William (6), Mary Ann (4) and "Thomas" (2).  Note Thomas should be James.

In 1871, Robert and Ellen (45 & 39) were in Whitefield with William (16), Mary Ann (14) and James (12), John (9), Mark (6) and Robert (1).
