Catherine was born in July 1775 in WestLeigh and her baptism took place on July 29th, 1775 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).1  Catherine's father was Henry Mather and her mother was Ann Wainright. She had four sisters named Betty, Susan, Matty and Matty.  She was the youngest of the five children.
