John Mather

John was born in January 1811 in WestLeigh and his baptism took place on July 27th, 1811 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).¹²

John's father was Henry Mather and his mother was Alice Boardman. His paternal grandparents were Henry Mather and Betty Keele. He had a brother and four sisters, named Henry, Betty, Mary, Ann and Hannah. He was the second oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 74 in December 1885 in Leigh.³
