James Mather

James was born in July 1779 in Pennington and his baptism took place on July 2nd, 1779 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).¹

James' father was Henry Mather and his mother was Betty Keele. He had two brothers and a sister, named John, Henry and Peggy. He was the second oldest of the four children. He had a half-brother and four half-sisters, named Joseph, Sarah, Sally, Ann and Mary.
