Mary was born in May 1769 in Pennington and her baptism took place on May 13th, 1769 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).1  Mary's father was Henry Mather and her mother was Mary Hampson. She had a brother and three sisters, named Joseph, Sarah, Sally and Ann.  She was the youngest of the five children. She had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named John, James, Henry and Peggy.  She died at 5 months old in October 1769 in Pendleton.  Her burial was on October 5th, 1769 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).2
