Ann's father was Henry Mather and her mother was Mary Hampson. She had a brother and three sisters, named Joseph, Sarah, Sally and Mary.  She was the second youngest of the five children. She had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named John, James, Henry and Peggy.

‌Ann and George were married in a religious ceremony on October 13th, 1793 in Warrington.²
