Ann was born in 1766 in Pennington and her baptism took place on May 24th, 1766 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).1  Ann's father was Henry Mather and her mother was Mary Hampson. She had a brother and three sisters, named Joseph, Sarah, Sally and Mary.  She was the fourth oldest of the five children. She had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named John, James, Henry and Peggy.
