Nancy was born in April 1804 in Bedford (Leigh) and her baptism took place on April 21st, 1804 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).1  Nancy's father was Henry Mather and her mother was Dorothy Magson. She had six brothers and six sisters, named John, Robert, Robert, Joseph, Henry, Henry, Elizabeth, Alice, Mary, Ellen, Ann and Jenny.  She was the second youngest of the thirteen children.
