Elizabeth was born in April 1783 in Rillington and her baptism took place there on April 20th, 1783.1  Elizabeth's father was Henry Mather and her mother was Dorothy Magson. She had six brothers and six sisters, named John, Robert, Robert, Joseph, Henry, Henry, Alice, Mary, Ellen, Ann, Nancy and Jenny.  She was the oldest of the thirteen children.
