Peter was born in 1832 in Pennington.1  Peter's father was John Rigby and his mother was Margaret Gaskel. He had four brothers and four sisters, named John, William, James, Samuel, Sarah, Mary, Margaret and Ann.  He was the fifth oldest of the nine known children.
