Ann was born in 1839 in Leigh.1  Ann's father was John Rigby and her mother was Margaret Gaskel. She had five brothers and three sisters, named John, Peter, William, James, Samuel, Sarah, Mary and Margaret.  She was the second youngest of the nine known children.
