Ann's father was John Mather and her mother was Elizabeth (Betty) France.  Her paternal grandparents were Nathan Mather and Betty Green. She had three brothers and a sister, named John, John, James and Jane.  She was the third oldest of the five children.  She died at the age of 19 in March 1838 in Sharples.  She was buried on March 25th, 1838 in Leigh.²
