Betty Green

Betty was born in 1759 in Atherton and her baptism took place on January 21st, 1759 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).¹

  Another Betty Green was baptised at Leigh in 1767 but she would be too young to marry 1781

Betty's father was Thomas Green and her mother was Margaret Speakman. She had a brother and a sister, named James and Ellen. She was the second oldest of the three children. She died at the age of 34 in May 1793 in WestLeigh. Her burial was on May 27th, 1793 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).²¹

Death Notes
- There were no baptisms after a stillborn 11 Dec 1791, so Nathan's wife Betty must have died after then. Either 1792 of the first half on 1793.

  Betty must have died about 1792, as in Dec 1793, Nathan married Jane Birchenhead. There is a death in 1789 for Betty Mather daughter of Mary Merredith of Bedfrod, Leigh. Its unlikely this is Nathan's wife. Nathan Mather of Westleigh had a still-born birth 11 Dec 1791, so his wife was still alive then.
