Matthew Mather

Matthew was born in May 1798 in WestLeigh and his baptism took place on May 5th, 1798 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).¹

Matthew's father was Nathan Mather and his mother was Jane (Jenny) Birchenhead. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Abraham, Thomas, Sarah, Betty and Mary. He was the third oldest of the six children. He had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named John, Abraham, Abraham, James and Peggy. He died at the age of 48 in December 1846 in Hyde.²
