Abraham was born in 1786 in WestLeigh and his baptism took place on June 3rd, 1786 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).¹

Abraham's father was Nathan Mather and his mother was Betty Green.  His maternal grandparents were Thomas Green and Margaret Speakman. He had three brothers and a sister, named John, Abraham, James and Peggy.  He was the third oldest of the five children. He had three half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Matthew, Abraham, Thomas, Sarah, Betty and Mary.  He died at the age of 2 in September 1788 in Leigh.  He was buried on September 8th, 1788 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Leigh).²
